Middlesbrough winning battle for Swedish prospect

Mervan Cejik has received attention from numerous sides in EnglandChampionship club Middlesbrough are reportedly winning the race to sign Swedish starlet Mervan Cejik.

The 21-year-old striker is one of the top scorers in the Swedish top division Allsvenskan after an impressive campaign in which he scored 14 goals in 26 starts.
Cejik is avalible on a free transfer from December as his contract is set to expire, whilst his club GAIS have all but accepted that their star forward will depart the club.

Some of Europe’s top clubs are tracking the striker, with German giants Hamburg, Italians Atlanta and Dutch clubs PSV Eindhoven and AZ Alkmaar amongst those interested.

But it is believed that the Swedish Under-21 international is to favour a move across the North Sea to the UK. This has alerted scouts from Premier League and Championship clubs whom have been following him closely in recent weeks, whilst Boro have been tipped to be the favourites of the contenders for his signature.

Celik, who is two-footed and can also play as a winger, will be able to move when the transfer window opens in January.
