New Manchester City signing Samir Nasri has admitted to wanting to leave the side since the beginning of the summer and also claims that the Manchester City fans are more passionate than those of his former club Arsenal.
In what was somewhat of a will he – won’t he transfer saga, Nasri was eventually unveiled on Wednesday ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Udinese and the 24 year old admits from that it was a frustrating time over the summer.
In an interview on the official Manchester City website Nasri said:
“I was a little bit frustrated over the summer because I told the manager I wanted to leave and go to pre-season with Manchester City.”
Asked if any of the former Arsenal players now at City had any baring on his decision Nasri replied:
“I spoke with them a lot (Kolo Toure and Gael Clichy), when I was on holiday, I also spoke to Patrick (Viera), and they know the club, they know the difference between Arsenal and Manchester City.”
In what seems to be a slight dig at the fans Nasri then suggests that City fans are more passionate in the stadium and that there is much more of an atmosphere at Eastlands.
“They are really passionate, it reminds me a bit of Marseille, Arsenal have good fans but not that passionate since they moved from Highbury to Emirates. I remember when we lost 3-0, the crowd was amazing, that’s what I want, to play football with a good atmosphere.”
