This is where the season really sparks into life and if a team isn’t at their best, they are likely to be saying goodbye to the NBA for another campaign.

At this stage, teams go up against each other in a best of six match battle, so a good start is always key.

First up, Miami Heat entertain Chicago Bulls and the former are much fancied for this clash.

They are of course looking to defend the title they won so impressively last campaign and there is no doubt that the bookies believe they will come out on top here as they are being offered at 1/9 to win in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

With LeBron James at their disposal – the man given the Most Valuable Player award earlier in the week – Heat should have too much quality for their opponents here.

James averaged 28 points and 8.0 rebounds in four games against Chicago, while also shooting 63.8 per cent. He hasn’t been best pleased with Chicago this campaign and voiced his displeasure at their physical approach towards him, but that is only likely to spur the MVP on in this encounter.

Of course, Miami have a lot of talented players, but you can’t help but feel as though James is the man that holds the key to this encounter.

After such an emphatic series win over Milwaukee last time out, Miami come here well-rested and refreshed, whereas Chicago has to play a gruelling seven-match series and could come into this one slightly fatigued.

It is fair to say that the Bulls and Heat don’t get along too well and the visiting side will be desperate to cause an upset in this one.

You can back them at 7/1 to come out on top and there is no doubt they need a massive performance to take a 1-0 lead.

Later on, San Antonio Spurs will be looking to get a strong start in their series against Golden State Warriors and if at their best, the home side should win this one comfortably.

Spurs finished the campaign in second place of the Western Conference, whereas the Warriors were sixth.

The hosts are at 1/5 to come out on top here and after their superb performance against LA Lakes in the previous round, it might be tough to look past them taking an early lead in this series.

Golden State Warriors had a 4-2 win over Denver in their previous series and didn’t wrap it up until Thursday, so they might be a little big fatigued going into this one.

We are all set for another thrilling night of play-off action and with a good start being key at this stage, all four sides in action will be desperate for a victory.
