It’s understood that in order to force through his transfer to Arsenal, Mikel Arteta was forced to take a £10,000 pay-cut from the wages he was on with Everton.
The midfielder’s move was being talked of earlier on in the day, but was apparently a no-goer due to personal terms.
However, late into the night, it emerged that the North London club had revived their interest in the Spaniard, and after taking the pay-cut, Arteta completed his move away from Goodison Park.
A host of pundits and fans alike see the 29 year-old as a like-for-like replacement for the departed Cesc Fabregas.
The creative midfielder has shown great potential at Everton, and will be hoping to flourich at a team like Arsenal.
