Wonder-kid Romelu Lukaku has admitted he see’s similarities between him and Didier Drogba, however he is ready to form a partnership with the Ivorian rather than replace him.
Drogba has had to watch from the bench in both of Chelsea’s opening Premier League fixtures, whilst Lukaku is still waiting to make his debut. The 18-year-old signing from Anderlecht last Thursday has said that he has already been working closely with Drogba, viewing him as a mentor.
Comparisons between the two are inevitable, with their similar build and style, but Lukaku still feels that the pair can make a formidable force together.
“I’m not here to replace him, I’m just here to play for Chelsea. I can play with him and continue to learn,” Lukaku said.
“I have pace and in a one-on-one I’m very strong, but to be compared to him is a very big honour to me.
“Every time in training I spend time with him, we talk a lot and I sit next to him also in the dressing room.”
