Barcelona are expected to make a fresh bid for long-term target and Arsenal skipper, Cesc Fabregas, after the Catalonian giants’ boss Pep Guardiola commented that his team is missing ‘just one player’.
The Gunners have already rejected an offer of £24m this summer, with the club valuing their captain at somewhere around the £40m mark.
The Spaniard began his career as a trainee with Barcelona but moved on to North London in 2003. However, he is now thought to want a return to his boyhood club.
Guardiola was quoted in the Daily Telegraph as saying: “We’re short of just one player and everyone knows which one that is.”
Arsenal have had a bittersweet pre-season, failing to secure any big-money signings as of yet with Juan Mata, Christopher Samba and Phil Jagielka all being linked with the club, but any potential deals proving fruitless thus far.
