New Stoke City signing moved for fear of squad position

Stoke City’s most expensive player, Peter Crouch, has revealed that he moved on from White Hart Lane after being told that he wasn’t assured a place in the club’s Premier League 25-man squad, of which all top flight clubs have to announce on Friday.

The 6ft 7inch forward had been linked with a move away from Spurs for some time, failing to recapture the form that earned him past moves to the likes of Liverpool and Portsmouth.

In the end, Stoke City were able to clinch his signature within the final hour of the transfer window, in a deal believed to be around £10m.

Crouch has moved to the Potters along with Wilson Palacios, whom he played alongside at Tottenham. The Honduran international came to the Brittania in an £8m deal
