Brendan Rodgers has had an increased bid of around £2m accepted for Newcastle winger, Wayne Routledge.
Routledge spent last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, where he helped Neil Warnock and his men to the Championship title
It was thought that Routledge would be returning to QPR on a permanent basis but the midfielder was unable to agree personal terms.
Routledge will become Brendan Rodgers’ fourth summer signing and satisfy the manager’s need for a winger, which he has talked about openly.
Rodgers is excited about the possible acquisition of Routledge but is still wary of the incomplete signature saying: “We think he would fit into our style and excite our supporters. We will wait to see if we can agree a deal.”
