Newcastle striker, Peter Lovenkrands, is hoping to emulate the form of Birmingham City by making sure Newcastle United have a good run in the Carling Cup this year.
The Magpies are set to line up against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night in their third-round tie, hoping to progress further in the competition.
The Danish international said: “Last year Birmingham won against Arsenal in the final – nobody expected them to win anything.”
The 31 year-old added: “It’s a good competition to be part of, and we can do well in it. We have a squad to that – we’ve got a big squad – and there are a lot of players who are dying to play.”
