Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is confident of finalising deals for a defender and a forward before the end of the transfer window. The Toon are fighting against the clock to sign players as there’s only eight days remaining of the transfer window.
The North East club is facing a complain made to FIFA by French club Sochaux, as they are unhappy with the way Newcastle allegedly made unofficial conduct with striker Modibo Maiga.
Pardew removed himself from those negotiations, saying: “I can’t tell you anything about that. My brief is to highlight players I think would take the club forward, and the club’s job is to get it over the line.”
“I am not involved in that.”
Newcastle also are looking to replace left-back Jose Enrique who left the club earlier this month to join Liverpool. Rumours have linked the club with PSV Eindhoven full back Erik Pieters, Manchester City left back Wayne Bridge and also Lyon’s Aly Cissokho.
