The Magpies moved clear of the relegation zone on Tuesday evening with a superb win at Aston Villa, so should be confident coming into this one. They have added five French players to their squad in the January transfer window and that looks to have given the club a much-needed boost.

A result against Chelsea could mean that Alan Pardew is looking up the table, rather than over his shoulder.

The Blues are of course looking to stay in the top three in the Premier League and will aim for three points here after throwing away a two-goal lead in the dying stages against Reading during the week.

Confidence should be back on Tyneside following the win, and more importantly, the return of influential midfielder Yohan Cabaye, as Pardew’s side look more than value at a big price of 10/3.

Aston Villa head to Everton knowing they have to take something from the game after yet another defeat last time out.

It is not going to be easy though as the Toffees are searching for a place in the top four and look to be in good form right now. At the moment, stopping left-back Leighton Baines is key to denying Everton too many goal-scoring opportunities.

The 2/5 on the home win is definitely accumulator material.

Arsenal host Stoke City as well and the home side know they must win to keep within touching distance of a Champions League spot.

Arsene Wenger’s men will be confident that they can claim all three points as well as Stoke have not won in five in the Premier League and look shaky at the back – which is rare for Tony Pulis’ team.

Olivier Giroud continues to emerge as the Gunners’ main threat and with Theo Walcott finding his form the 5/11 on the home win should attract plenty of attention.

Reading and Sunderland lock horns and the hosts can extend their unbeaten run to four matches – something not many would have thought they were capable of a few weeks ago.

Sunderland have found some form in recent weeks, but know Reading are on a high now and if Adam Le Fondre comes on with any time to go, you can never write the Royals off.

Danny Graham has been brought in from Swansea to bolster the attack, but 6/4 on the home win should not be missed.

It should be another cracking game from the Madjeski Stadium.

Swansea City head to East London on Saturday afternoon as they take on West Ham United at Upton Park. The Swans were 3-0 winners when these two met earlier in the season and in truth, gave the Hammers a lesson in how to play football.

West Ham are a much different side on home soil though and need the points here to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle. If Swansea are on form though, they might be tough to stop.

A 0-0 draw at 10/1 could reap dividends, however.

Finally, there is a massive game taking place in terms of the fight to stay in the league as Wigan Athletic host Southampton.

Wigan currently sit in the bottom three, but can draw level with their opponents if they win this one, so there is a lot at stake.

Entertainment looks to be all but guaranteed on Saturday afternoon.
