Newcastle close to signing international star
The agent of PSV Eindhoven left-back, Erik Pieters, has stated that his client will be joining the Magpies in the coming days.
The 23 year-old is seen by Alan Pardew as an adequate replacement for Jose Enrique, who joined Liverpool for a reported £6m earlier this month.
Pieters is expected to cost around the same amount and Piet van der Pol, the player’s agent, says that a deal is almost done.
Speaking to various Dutch media outlets, van der Pol commented: “I don’t know the exact numbers of Newcastle’s offer, but I’m pretty sure that the transfer will go ahead.”
Pieters has already made 10 appearances for the Holland national side, and is seen as a bright prospect in his native Eredivisie.
