Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew, has been told to put up £14m if he wants to sign Tottenham’s Russian forward, Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The news comes just a day after the Magpies gained the signature of former Manchester United misfit, Gabriel Obertan.
Pardew commented on the improvements his team needs, saying: “I want to bring pace into the team. It was lacking last year and Gabriel will bring that to the team.”
Newcastle have been interested in signing a striker since the £35m departure of Andy Carroll, with PSG’s Turkish frontman, Mevlut Erding, thought to be on their radar.
