Newcastle boss, Alan Pardew, has upped his bid for PSV Eindhoven’s Erik Pieters, as the Magpies strive to fill the void left by former left-back Jose Enrique.
Enrique departed for Liverpool last week in a £6m deal, after a summer-long transfer saga.
Pardew is believed to have immediately launched a £6m bid for the Netherlands international, which has been rejected by the Dutch outfit.
However, the 23 year-old is expected to be subject to an increased £7m offer, as Pardew seeks to replace his star full-back.
