After starring in what has already been a marvellous season for the club, Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella is now being linked with numerous European outfits with Arsenal reportedly leading the race.
Montpellier currently find themselves second in the French top flight just a point off the pace of Paris Saint-Germain who sit in first.
Cabella hasn’t featured prominently for the club quite yet being mostly limited to substitute appearances but has shown great potential when he has played, teaming up well at times with scoring talisman Olivier Giroud.
Newcastle have made big investments in French talent over the past two years and the yappear to be doing something right with the team making a siege on the rest of the Premier League.
One would find it hard to argue that the Magpies, currently in sixth place, haven’t had a highly impressive season so far and while that may not be solely down to a strong French contingent, they’ve certainly helped.
To name a couple of stars, Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux and Hatem Ben Arfa have contributed hugely to the club’s success at times and fellow French-speakers Demba Ba and Cheick Tioté have also done more than their part.
Cabella has made just ten league starts this season, scoring three goals and one assist in the process.
The 22 year-old has also played in three French Cup fixtures, scoring on three occasions.
Given his recent success with French purchases, Alan Pardew could most certainly be keen to add another to his ranks and looks set to make his move this summer.
Cabella is yet to make a big move into Montpellier’s starting XI and would therefore only cost around £4m and the player may also look upon the move favourably, hoping to flourish as his fellow countryman have.
