Newcastle United favourites to loan Chelsea forward

Sturridge may move to a different club this season rather than re-join BoltonNewcastle United are the latest club to be linked with a potential move for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge and could be set to land the England striker on loan for the upcoming season.

Sturridge, who spent last season on loan with Bolton, is rumoured to be set to go out on loan again this season as it seems unlikely he will be able to get a first-team position at the moment, and despite interest from Bolton on acquiring the player on loan for a second season, Chelsea are said to prefer a potential loan move to Newcastle for Sturridge. It is believed Andre Villas Boas would rather an experience with a new club for the England striker instead of a return to Bolton.

However, Sturridge himself may opt against another loan move in favour of trying to fight for his place at Chelsea. The striker has suggested he is ready to prove to Villas Boas and England manager Fabio Capello that he has what it takes to make a step-up this season, both on the domestic and international scene.

Chelsea, though, are less keen on keeping Sturridge at the moment and could be tempted to offload him to make way for another striker. They have been heavily linked with Romelu Lukaku and Radamel Falcao – although he has now signed an extension with Porto – whilst Villas Boas has made no secret of his desire to add another forward to Chelsea’s squad.
