A number of big names are being associated with a move to St. James’ Park as Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew, seeks his solution to the departure of Jose Enrique.
The Magpies were being linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Holland international, Erik Pieters. However, that deal may not go through now, as Newcastle weigh up other options.
Pardew is reported to be looking at West Brom’s Nicky Shorey, as well as Ligue 1 defenders Aly Sissokho and Cheikh M’Bengue.
Sissoko who plays for Lyon, was previously a target for Liverpool, whilst M’Bengue is a relatively new introduction to the transfer speculation whirlwind.
Current Toon left-back, Ryan Taylor, scored the only goal in Newcastle’s 1-0 at Sunderland on Saturday.
Pardew noted: “We are trying to bring in another left-back, but he will have to be a good one to take Ryan out of the team.”
