Sources from abroad are claiming that Newcastle United are one club showing interest in CSKA Moscow striker, Seydou Doumbia.
The Ivory Coast international has drawn great praise over the past two years since making his move to the Russian Premier League and has earned a prolific goalscoring record in the process.
Doumbia completed his Moscow move in 2010 after spending three years playing for Swiss side BSC Young Boys, where he scored 50 goals in 64 appearances.
In the steeper heights of Russian football, the 23 year-old is nearing similar success, netting 24 times in 37 games for his side.
Although goal tallies aren’t everything – as many a big money flop have proven in the past – one can’t help but be taken aback at how frequently this forward scores.
The hitman has also made 13 appearances for the Ivory Coast national side, scoring a sole goal.
The Magpies have yet to make full use of the £35m received for the sale of Andy Carroll, with fans calling for a big name striker to be brought in.
While Doumbia is not yet a household name, if he repeats the scoring records that he has enjoyed at past clubs, this talisman could be a star in the Premier League.
