Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confessed that he is happy for the fans to be talking about finishing in the top four season after such a fantastic start for the Tyneside club but that he and the team will be taking things one game at a time.
An unbeaten run by Newcastle United has seen the side move into third behind Manchester United and Manchester City, with Stamford bridge club Chelsea just behind on three points. However the next three Premier League games for the North East side will see them come up against the sides that surround them in which will surely be a test of this Newcastle side’s true aspirations.
Pardew however expects the fans to be excited at the prospect of finishing in the top four and admits that it is in their interest to be dreaming of a place in next years Champions League.
“I don’t want to dampen expectations. I am not here for that, I want fans to enjoy this and if they are dreaming of the Champions League, let them dream, it is fantastic, good luck to them.”
The Newcastle United manager does add however that they shall take each game as it comes.
“In the dressing room we have to be a little more conservative about our approach. We are a new team, we have done terrifically well and we go to the next game, that’s it.”
