Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has praised his summer signing Demba Ba after the 26 year old netted his second hat-trick of the season against Stoke City on Monday evening.
The result sees Newcastle United stretch their unbeaten run in the Premiership to thirteen and along with Manchester City remain unbeaten this season after ten games. Newcastle United’s 3-1 victory also means the Tyneside outfit jump to third in the Premier League table, three points clear of Chelsea and just the point behind second placed Manchester United.
Talking after the game, Pardew said:
“The resilience showed a different side to us, you don’t get to 22 points without showing different sides to your game. I have to pay tribute to my players, they stood up to be counted. There were so many set-plays and so many long throws into the box.”
The Newcastle United manager added:
“It is about discipline in terms of how we work as a team and defend set-plays. Not many teams are going to come here and win. It is a great performance from us. All the big sides have been here and not won so that just shows how good Stoke are. They are a top team and will finish in the top ten.”
Meanwhile Ba, who was the subject of a move to Stoke City during the summer added it is probably the hardest place to come and score goals.
“I am very happy to score a hat-trick here because it is a place you come to and struggle.”
