It’s understood that Newcastle United have taken the penultimate step in signing Inter Milan sensation, Davide Santon, by agreeing a fee with the Italian club.
The Italian international will now travel to England for a medical with the Magpies before finalising his move to the Premier League.
The two clubs agreed a £5.6m deal, ending the interest of Serie A rivals, AS Roma, who were also in the hunt for the full-back.
Santon has fallen out-of-favour at the San Siro following the arrival of Yuto Nagatomo, who signed for the club on a permanent basis this summer.
The 20 year-old already has seven international appearances to his name, and is hoping to add to that tally with the larger potential of first team football at St. James’ Park.
