Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew, is keen to bring in yet another player with a French background, in the form of Sochaux striker, Modibo Maiga.
Maiga would join the likes of Yoann Cabaye, Mehdi Abeid, Gabriel Obertan and Demba Ba as a part of the club’s French contingent.
Maiga has reportedly pleaded with his Ligue 1 club to let him join the Magpies, despite the French team offering him a new, more lucrative deal.
The forward has even refused to train with his current team and told French newspaper L’Equipe: “I met everybody, they want me and it is not any club. England is a dream.”
He added “I want to leave, it is necessary that the president agrees to negotiate. I want to go.”
Sochaux rate their hitman at £7m and Pardew is keen to add another striker to his squad after January’s £35m sale of Andy Carroll.
