Newcastle United thrilled to see French sensation return

Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew is delighted to have Hatem Ben Arfa back in his ranks after the Frenchman recovered from an ankle injury picked up in pre-season.

The midfielder hasn’t featured much for the Magpies since he signed earlier in the year following a loan spell at the club, but Pardew remains confident that Ben Arfa can be an asset to the team.

The former Marseille star is poised to play against Nottingham Forest tonight in the Toon’s Carling Cup tie, in what will be his first game for some months.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Pardew sounds fully aware how injury-prone his charge is, stating: “I won’t say he’s high maintenance but he’s not low maintenance and we’re going to have our moments with him.”

He added: “I’m sure he’s going to fall out with me and my staff and my players and we will with him, but along that line we’re hoping to get some great performances and a lot of goals from him.”
