Sources on Tyneside have revealed that Newcastle United will be making a bid for a “top drawer striker” during the summer however no names were mentioned.
There has been much speculation since the departure of Andy Carroll to Liverpool FC in a move worth £35m in January as to whether Mike Ashley is prepared to release the funds they received for their striker to replace him.
Our source said.
“The funds will be available and the majority of that money will be used on a top drawer striker.”
But added.
“I can’t give you a list of names, no.”
Whilst our source may not be prepared to provide details on who this top drawer striker may be, they are numerous players that can be purchased for such a vast sum of money. Indeed, even if Ashley and Pardew were to use £5m less, £30m can still get one of the best strikers in European football these days.
Despite losing their top striker Newcastle United have been able to find enough goals to practically guarantee their safety and should a high quality forward be purchased this summer it will be very interesting to find out who he might be.
