Newcastle United to re-introduce sexy football with bids for Joe Cole and Shaun Wright-Phillips

Newcastle United want to bring the good times back to St James' ParkNewcastle United are looking to head back to the days of flair and “sexy football” by arranging interesting summer bids for both Liverpool’s Joe Cole and Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips our sources understand.

Newcastle received £35m in January for former striker Andy Carrol and it is believed that a slice of these funds are going to be used to prise both Cole and Wright-Phillips to St. James’ Park in the hope of adding some extra flair to their attacking options.

Cole has not had the best of times at Liverpool, being sent off in his first match against Arsenal and then falling to injury soon thereafter, a lack of form since has seen Cole making mostly cameo appearances for the Anfield outfit and although Magpie fans may fear his injuries will continue, he remains a player that is rated very highly when on form.

Wright-Phillips on the other hand was quoted last week as saying that he would prefer to stay at Eastlands to win trophies and that he wishes to remain a Manchester City player. Too much time spent on the bench is not a replacement for the love of the game though and should he decide that bench warming is no longer enough, he could find that life on the Tyne – and minutes on the pitch – will suit him better.

Both players are not fresh starlets to the game and it is thought that a combined £15m should be enough for both players.
