Speculation has suggested that Olympiakos have made an improved bid to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jean Makoun on loan with a view to make the deal permanent.
A previous offer was made earlier this week however it was rejected by Villa as boss Alex McLeish is not ready to allow any players to leave the club without replacements brought in before.
The Cameroon international has found chances in the Villa line up very little and was an unused sub in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Wolves, but he did start in their win over Hereford United in the Carling Cup.
Makoun had admitted this week that he would be prepared to fight for a place at Villa Park. The midfielder joined Villa in January from Lyon and he has also refused to rule out the possibility of a move to Greek club Olympiakos.
The 28-year-old would be attracted to the chance of playing Champions League football with Olympiakos, who have been drawn in the same group as Borussia Dortmund, Marseille and Arsenal.
