Onuoha insists ambitions are still high

January signing Nedum Onuoha insists that despite the fact that his new club are still in the midst of a battle against relegation, the QPR camp is still full of confidence.

The West London outfit most recently succumbed to a 2-1 home loss against Wolves on the weekend and are now just one point above the drop zone.

The Rs could however make an important jump in their survival hopes this weekend when they take on Blackburn Rovers, who currently sit in 19th.

The match will undoubtedly prove pivotal for both sides who are looking to retain a place in the English top flight.

Speaking to the official QPR website, Onuoha stated: “There are a lot of players that have been in this position before in their careers. I was in a similar position a number of years ago with Manchester City. You just need to know that you can trust your team-mates and we all believe that is the case here.”

He added: “I think Kenny Dalglish made a statement recently after seeing his side lose, something along the lines of ‘I think some of the players didn’t realise the next game is always the most important one’. That’s always the case – so this game against Blackburn on Saturday is a massive game.”

Onuoha arrived at Loftus Road last month for a fee of around £2.5m and will be hoping to secure enough points from the club’s remaining fixtures to keep the Hoops in the Premier League.
