The highlight of Saturday’s card at Cheltenham is the Paddy Power Gold Cup as horse racing fans can watch the race & odds with Paddy Power and their cheltenham live stream service.

The race takes centre stage at the Cheltenham Open this week as the National Hunt season steps up a gear. With a mixture of experienced hurdlers and progressive horses, this is always an entertaining race.

As ever, there are some leading contenders to go all the way. For the 2012 Paddy Power Gold Cup – which could shape people’s thinking for the 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup – the one to beat is Grands Crus.

Trainer David Pipe was successful in this race last year with Great Endeavour and Grands Crus – an experienced jumper – is the one to beat this time around, with odds of 2/1 ahead of the race.

Pipe’s stable certainly has a fine record in this race over the years and ahead of Saturday’s contest, he is confident the pre-race favourite has what it takes to make it two Paddy Power Gold Cup wins in succession for him.

Referring to Grands Crus, he said: “He has always shown plenty of speed so the trip of two and a half miles for him first time up should be ideal – they will be going a good clip and that should help him settle.  He will be my only runner in the race.”

The major contenders to Pipe’s hopeful include second-favourite Hunt Ball, available at 11/2. This is a horse with great potential in these conditions and after seven wins in nine races last year, includging victory in the Grade One Betfair Bowl at Aintree, this race has been in owner Anthony Knott’s sights for a while now.

Trainer Kieran Burke is in confident mood too, saying that Hunt Ball is ‘exactly where we want him’ ahead of this weekend’s race. The duel between the two leading contenders will certainly be a fascinating one.

There are plenty of other horses hoping to lead the way though. Walkon and Al Ferof – who are both available at 8/1 – are particularly worth mentioning, especially the latter who is Grade One winning novice.

Elsewhere, for what should be a very competitive race, you have five horses between 12/1 and 20/1, including Divers and the highly-rated Nadiya De La Vega.

This race gets underway at Cheltenham from 14.35 on Saturday afternoon.
