Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has tipped Shola Ameobi to cause Sunderland havoc in this weekend’s derby fixture. The Magpies travel to the Stadium of Light this Saturday for this Premier League season’s first derby game, with sparks expected to flare in the North East.
Pardew has already confirmed that Ameobi will start this weekend with the forward having a good record against the Black Cats in the past, scoring 6 goals in 10 games.
The former England Under-21 international was raised in Tyneside and knows the importance of the North East derby to the Geordie fans.
“Shola has been here a long time and he has lived in the area,” said Pardew.
“Everywhere you go, you are reminded, and Shola has had that for a number of years, so he knows that this is a massive game for the club and he probably gets himself as high as he would for a cup final, and that bodes well
