Park Ji-sung out of Manchester United lineup for up to a month

Another month out for Manchester United's Park Ji-sungIt has been a good couple of weeks for Manchester United culminating with a win against arch rivals Manchester City. Now though, to lose Park Ji-sung after already losing the energyless winger to his country for the Asian Cup is a bigger negative than the United management team will probably let on.

They knew at the start of the season that they would be losing Park for a period over Christmas and January but they could not predict the loss of Antonio Valencia, who, whilst making good progress, is still some way short of a full recovery and inclusion in any first team matters.

The Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the injury to Park on the clubs official website.

“It was very unfortunate because it was his last kick of the ball in training as well. We were really looking forward to having him back after being away for a month at the Asian Cup. He’ll be out for up to a month, which is a blow to us.”

With this part of the season being usually one of the toughest for most top clubs, with FA Cup games coming thick and fast and the re-opening of the Champions League, United will be find things tough with only Giggs and Nani as specialists in those positions, meaning youngsters Obertan and Bebe could well be playing more important matches than in the reserves over the up and coming weeks.
