The World Championship darts has reached the quarter final stage with Ladbrokes releasing the latest odds and a live stream service on Simon Whitlock v Raymond Van Barneveld & Phil Taylor v Andy Hamilton.

It’s the first batch of quarter final matches from Alexandra Palace on Friday evening with Phil Taylor looking to rubberstamp his grip on the much coveted Sid Waddell Trophy for the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship.

The 13-time PDC champion has been very strong at the head of the outright betting for this trophy but will face his biggest test to date in front of a packed and raucous crowd as he takes on last year’s finalist Andy Hamilton.

Taylor, a 1/3 with Ladbrokes to progress through to the semi-finals, where he would face either Raymond van Barneveld or Simon Whitlock, is proving very popular to see off the Hammer. The current price is the largest he has traded at for any one of his three previous matches at the 2013 World Championships and punters are filling their boots.

He has rewarded his followers thus far and he looked to be returning to somewhere near his best when dismantling Robert Thornton 4-0 in the last 32.

Taylor is renowned for peaking when the big games come around. The quarter final stages is when the legendary darts player starts to put his foot down on the gas and Hamilton will have to bring his A-game and maybe more to the table if he is going to cause an upset.

Punters can get just 3/1 on the Hammer beating Taylor, but in truth, not many people are predicting an upset here. Hamilton defied a superb 13 180s from Terry Jenkins in the last round to take a 4-1 win, as once again his coolness under pressure on the doubles proved invaluable.

He will need to score better though to hurt the Power – he only hit two 180’s against Jenkins.

With the maximum scores in mind, it does seem quite strange that the markets have priced up Taylor as 7/4 with Ladbrokes to hit more 180’s than Hamilton in this match. That looks a play to keep onside if you’re not a fan of taking odds-on prices about Taylor succeeding.

The correct score markets also are a valuable tool for punters to sniff out some value with and all the money for this game is being piled on a 5-2 win at 7/2 with Ladbrokes. Hamilton, if he is going to get a result, will do so in grinding fashion, so backing him to win 5-4 at 12/1 with Paddy Power could be a play to keep in mind.

After Taylor’s predicted victory over Hamilton, Whitlock and the man on everyone lips, Raymond Van Barneveld, enter the arena. This match has all the makings of a classic, with Barney destructive scoring style coming up against Whitlock’s fantastic finishing ability.

Van Barneveld, who has yet to lose a set in the tournament this year and is now third favourite for the title, is a 4/7 with Paddy Power to land the spoils whilst Whitlock is an easy to back 13/8 with the same firm.

Even though all the tickets have been sold out for Friday, you will never have to miss an arrow as sponsors Ladbrokes have released great news that they will be providing Live Streaming of every World Championship match via their website, mobile and Ipad applications.

In order to access the streams via a laptop, mobile or Ipad, you need to sign up to an account with Ladbrokes, which is of course free of charge.

The slight catch is that Ladbrokes do require you bet on the match in question in order to view the HD coverage but as it’s only £1, it really isn’t too much of a problem. As long as you have a good Wi-Fi or 3G connection, you can access a perfect live feed of your chosen match with added commentary so you don’t miss a beat.
