Pompey youngster eyeing top-six finish

Portsmouth midfielder Joel Ward believes that his side should be gunning for the play-offs at the very least, in the coming campaign.

Pompey may have gotten over the shock of their fall from the Premier League some three years ago and may now be ready to mount an attack on Championship promotion.

Ward stated: “We want to give it everything we’ve got, and that’s the main thing we’re going to do – we’re going to give it 100 per cent every week, and hopefully that pays off.”

The 21 year-old thinks that the youth of the squad is a bearing factor, and will help them in seasons to come:

“As the squad grows and we get a few additions, the team will get a lot stronger. We’re feeling fitter and a lot sharper, looking good in training and we are building for the future.”
