Primeira Liga and Europa League champions, Porto, look just about ready to capitalise on some of the star talent that has made 2011 such a successful year for the club. Radamel Falcao is one such talent and although his contributions have been many, Porto look more and more likely to be starting the 2011-12 campaign without the Colombian.
Falcao has scored 73 goals for the Portuguese giants since his arrival in 2009; an impressive statistic, we know. However, when you bring in the fact that the forward has only appeared 85 times for the club, it gets harder to come up with sufficient adjectives. 39 goals in 41 appearances this season is an even better statistic, and in the Portuguese league, one can only reminisce about a certain Real Madrid player’s tenure in the division.
The striker isn’t exactly over the hedge yet either. At 25 years-old, it’s a wonder the striking marvel hasn’t been surrounded in gossip earlier, but it seems his time has come. It’s reported that Arsenal and Liverpool have already put in bids for the South American, according to the player’s agent.
Prospective buyers will be galvanized by comments made by the Portuguese side’s president, too. Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa has expressed his willingness to sell Falcao. Other players up for grabs could be the league’s top scorer Hulk, as well as Argentine Nicolas Otamendi. This news will have many European teams on high alert, as Porto look to capitalise on a fantastic season, by milking their cash-cows for all they’re worth.
