Van Gerwen finished on top of the league table after some superb displays in his debut Premier League campaign and he will now be looking to finish off the job and win the tournament outright.
The Dutchman is proving to be a massive threat to current world number one Phil Taylor and the bookmakers believe he is going reach the final as he is at 4/11 to beat Wade.
Van Gerwen was a 7-5 winner when these two last met in April and if at his best here, he should come out on top. The man from Holland needs a quick start and if he manages that, he is sure to have the fans singing his name and could be tough to stop.
As for Wade, he needed a draw against Phil Taylor last week to secure a place in the top four and a massive performance is needed from him this time out.
The Englishman is a top player on his day, but he is going to find it tough against van Gerwen.
Much like his opponent, the left-handed thrower needs to get a good start and has to hit any doubles when he has the chance. Wade’s finishing is going to be key here.
With the experience and knowhow he has, he could be good value for the win at 11/4.
After this clash, Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld go head to head in what is a battle between two of the sport’s biggest names.
Taylor struggled to pick up points in the middle of the Premier League season and at one stage looked as though he might not make the top four. However, he found form when needed and now the Power should reach the final.
He is being tipped at 4/9 to beat his opponent this evening, but the World Champion knows he is in for a tough encounter against van Barneveld.
Barney has been consistent throughout the season and never really looked as though he was going to finish outside of the top four.
He has to perform at his best during this clash, but there is no doubt that he does have the quality to come out on top. The Dutchman is being offered at 19/10 for the win and that might not be a bad bet when you consider van Barneveld finished ahead of Taylor in the league.
This match is sure to get the crowd inside the 02 buzzing and you can expect an electric atmosphere, especially if we see a few 180’s.
We are all set for a cracking night of darts in London this evening and the matches on show are all going to entertain us right from the off. Bring it on.
