Premier League duo readying bids for international anchorman
Sources claim that Manchester United and Arsenal could be preparing summer bids to sign Rennes midfielder, Yann M’Vila.
The 21 year-old is unlikely to move during the January transfer window and the Premier League giants are eager to get an early lead on their competition by raising interest in the player now.
It’s understood that Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool have also shown interest in the holding midfielder and a bidding war is more than likely to ensue unless one club shows particular initiative.
Both Arsenal and United have reason to make moves for the youngster following criticisms that the English sides lack depth in the middle of the park.
Arsene Wenger is known to be a long-term admirer of the Ligue 1 star and is reported to previously had a bid worth around £18m turned down by Rennes.
It’s suspected that an offer closer to £23m will be required if the French outfit are to be tempted into selling their talisman; something both teams may be prepared to meet following January transfer windows that have been quiet thus far.
M’Vila has made 28 starts for Rennes this campaign and is now a firm fixture in the club’s starting XI, earning a name for himself as a tough defensive midfielder.
Although this news means a January offer for the French international is unlikely, 2011 showed us nothing if not that we should never rule out a last-ditch deal.
