Amongst a heap of other interest, Norwich City and Swansea City are rumoured to be tugging it out over the signature of Bristol City striker, Nicky Maynard.
Both sides were promoted to the country’s top flight in 2011 and are looking to take their former opponent to the new heights of the Premier League.
After failing to negotiate a new deal at Ashton Gate, Bristol City decided to put the star up for sale, and the 25 year-old is expected to move on at some point this month.
The forward has scored 45 goals in 125 appearances for the Robins since moving to the side from Crewe Alexandra in 2008, and has shown prolific form since the switch and since stating his intent to move to the Premier League.
Norwich are looking to add to their offensive ranks as they are currently relying on the scoring form of Steve Morrison, Grant Holt and Simeon Jackson to keep them afloat.
Swansea on the other hand are seeking a different deal as they seek to offload a fringe player in the process of bringing a prospective starter in.
The fringe player in question is said to be Stephen Dobbie, who the Swans are willing to offer in part exchange for Maynard, as well as a cash payment of £4.5m.
Dobbie has failed to perform at the level Swansea have grown to expect and is now surplus to requirements at the Liberty Stadium.
Maynard is very likely to leave Bristol City over the course of the January transfer window and both the Swans and Canaries will be hopeful of tempting the hitman to their sides of the opposition.
