Premier League giants weighing up bid for Bundesliga prodigy

Schalke 04 midfielder, Julian Draxler, is said to be attracting the attention of Chelsea after an impressive first season in the Bundesliga.

Draxler became the Bundesliga’s fourth-youngest player ever at the start of this year and went on to feature regularly for the German outfit in Cup competitions as well as the league.

The 18 year-old has now featured in 21 games for The Miners, and has attracted the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs as a result.

Chelsea are looking to offload some of the excess baggage they are currently carrying in midfield and the likes of Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda may be on their way out of the side.

Another problem that needs a solution is the case of Frank Lampard. The England playmaker was drawing heaps of criticism in September, with some saying that the 33 year-old was no longer fit to start for club and country.

Despite the fact that Lampard answered the critics fantastically, it doesn’t help that the player is 33 years-old and will need a long-term replacement, which is where Draxler could fit in.

Draxler is 15 years Lampard’s younger and is more than capable of fitting into an attacking midfield role. The youngster is expected to be worth around £15m and well within the Blues’ reach.
