Premier League keeper hope for Capello call-up

Peter Crouch will not give up on England whilst under Fabio Capello's managementNorwich City stopper John Ruddy has admitted that he remains hopeful that he will be called up by Fabio Capello to the England squad in the near future.
Capello’s goalkeeping scout Ray Clemence has watched the 24-year-old on two occasions, and he has been in impressive form since joining the Canaries from Everton in 2010.

Ruddy has insisted that he will continue to give his best for Norwich to try and battle for an international place, however admits that getting a maiden call-up for his country may not be possible at the moment.

“Obviously it’s everybody’s ambition to play for their country,” he said. “I’m not expecting a call-up but I know I have been watched and if I keep playing well that can only improve my chances.
“I’m trying not to think too much about England. I just have to concentrate on playing as well as I can for Norwich.

Ruddy continued to say, “But midfielder Bradley Johnson was named recently in England’s provisional squad of 30, so it proves they are looking at our club.”
Norwich take on Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening, and the former Everton employee wants the Kop to consider them to be no pushovers.

“I expect to be under pressure at Liverpool but hopefully I won’t get any stick from the Kop – they probably won’t even remember that I used to play for Everton,” he explained.
“I’ve never played there before but I was on the bench for a Merseyside derby and the atmosphere was just incredible.” Ruddy added.

“It was an exceptional occasion and I’m looking forward to this game.

“Liverpool are quality, with some world-class players and we know we will have to do a lot of defending.
“But we aren’t going there just to lie down and take a beating.”
