Chelsea striker and a seeming £50m flop, Fernando Torres, has been told by his manager that he is not an invincible force in the team, and will be dropped if his disappointing form continues.
Andre Villas Boas is confident that his new charge can recapture the performances that saw him become so successful at Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, but he won’t wait forever.
The Blues manager said: “The talent is there and the question is regaining confidence, which comes from training and time and finding the back of the net. You have to persist.”
But gave a touch of warning to the Spaniard, adding: “But the moment it compromises the running of the team it has to come to an end.”
Spain national coach, Vicente del Bosque, is also on the forward’s case, and has warned him that if his club standards don’t improve, his future on an international scale is also uncertain.
