Premiership Transfer News of the Week

Javier Pastore is wanted by the big guns of Premiership footballAs we reach a small break where the Premiership is concerned and we get a chance to see how the international side will cope against Wales without their main star Gareth Bale, it is interesting to note the amount of players named in the press this week that are perhaps unknown to many.

As the month draws to a close there has been many transfer rumours of late relating to the Premiership and none moreso than Newcastle United and who they are going to be purchasing with the £35m they were able to make from Liverpool. here are some of the names to be rumoured as possible Premiership transfers this week.

Gervinho

The Lille and Ivory Coast striker has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United. The 23 year old whos real name Gervais Yao Kouassi has scored over 20 goals in just over 50 appearances for the French side and has picked up 19 international caps too netting 5 goals in those games. With Newcastle looking to add some firepower over the summer Gervinho it seems, will be on their wishlist.

Javier Pastore

There have been some big transfer figures in relation to this 21 year old Argentinian who currently plays for Serie A side Palermo. Despite them doing well this season it was rumoured that the club turned down a bid in the region of £25m from Real Madrid. Obviously it is the clubs with deep pockets looking to be most interested in this tall striker and figures of £35m plus are likely to mean a move for the youngster. Chelsea and Manchester City are apparently more keen on Pastore than others.

Gary Cahill

Talk about a wanted man, in fact he is wanted by so many they are considering Gary as the main man in the next series of Jailbreak! Seriously though his talent has obviously not gone unnoticed with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United thought to be most keen. With all three of these clubs able to offer him a good wage structure it is likely that he will move in the summer despite a certain release clause in his contract suggesting he must stay at Bolton Wanderers until 2012. A transfer fee upwards of £15m is quite common across the world of media.

Jonny Evans

The Manchester United defender has had a pretty poor season for the Old Trafford outfit and it’s likely he will be moving on to cause defensive headaches for another club manager. Of those to be interested we have Everton and Sunderland. Both clubs do have certain relations with Sir Alex Ferguson so be prepared to leak those few extra goals next season unless the Northern Ireland defender improves dramatically on this campaign.

Ashley Cole

Whilst the Chelsea left back was the subject of speculation last season it seems Real Madrid still want someone on the left with that bit of experience. With Cole going past the 30 year old barrier it might seem a good time for the Stamford Bridge club to cash in on his ageing legs but he may not wish to join a club only to play second fiddle to the up and coming Marcelo.

Maarten Stekelenburg

A classy goalkeeper who is normally linked to the likes of Manchester United but sources had revealed recently that Arsenal would be happy with him in front of their posts. Even a card board cut out would help Wenger’s situation at the moment although the real Stekelenburg could cost the Gunners a cool £12m. If that isn’t worth paying for the international then I really don’t know what is. Arsenal need solidity at the back and this Dutchman can do that with his eyes closed, not literally as we have seen with Almunia that it doesn’t work.

That’s all for this week. Enjoy the international break and I shall be back next Friday with more Premiership transfer news and rumours.
