Ligue 1 heads into its final round of fixtures before a winter break this weekend and as ever, there are some cracking looking matches taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Paris Saint Germain are in action on Friday evening and will be desperate to extend their lead at the top of the table when they travel to Brest. After a tricky patch of form, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have now won three games on the bounce, as they big spenders find themselves top of Ligue 1.

A big win over the second placed side Lyon last week sent a clear message out to the rest of the league with the Paris based side still the team to beat in France as they travel to the Stade Francis-Le Ble in search of another three points.

If PSG are anywhere near their best in this one, they should be winning comfortably and would end the first half of the season on a high as their odds of 4/7 suggest that victory should come with comparitive ease.

Landry Chauvin’s side are struggling for consistency at the moment, and with two defeats in their last two home games, Ibrahimovic and co look to have too much attacking prowess for the side currently lying in 13th place.

Moving onto Saturday’s action, Lille take on Montpellier in the early kick-off of the day and the latter will be looking to make it four straight wins in Ligue 1. These two are currently level on points, so this should be an evenly matched encounter.

In the evening, Lyon can keep the pace with PSG when they take on a Nice side that are in fifth position and playing some superb football, so know it is going to be a tough 90 minutes for the home team.

Also, Rennes make the journey to Ajaccio and the visitors will be the favourites for this one as they sit in sixth.

Lorient can make it five wins from five when they host Reims, who are hovering just above the relegation zone and Troyes, who record only their second victory of the season last time out, have a tough game at Bordeaux.

Bastia v Nancy is the final game to take place on Saturday and these two are both struggling for form at the minute. Bastia are without a win in four, whereas Nancy are now eight points adrift of safety.

On Sunday, Valenciennes take on Evian and Toulouse meet Sochaux in what is another battle between two struggling teams right now.

The last game of the weekend looks like being a cracker as Marseille entertain Saint-Etienne. This is an encounter between the team in third and eighth and if Marseille win, they know that they will at least be level with the team at the top of the table.

It should be a fitting weekend to round off a superb first half of the campaign.
