QPR Arsenal Odds : Gunners to heap Premiership relegation pressure on Hughes at Loftus Road

Queens Park Rangers face a tough challenge in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League when they take on Arsenal at Loftus Road on Saturday, with the Gunners looking far too strong on recent form to claim the points.

Whilst Mark Hughes’ men are struggling for consistency right now, the Gunners are flying, having won all of their last seven games.

There is no doubt that the odds will be stacked heavily against QPR, but they will surely take heart from the fact that they came from 2-0 down to beat Liverpool barely more than a week ago.

They will need to muster more of that fighting spirit if they are to achieve what would seemingly be an even bigger upset.

Both sides still have so much to play for, with Arsenal not yet having secured a top four finish, but also keen to hold onto third, as it will mean automatic qualification for the group stage of the Champions’ League next season.

QPR, meanwhile, find themselves in the precarious position of 18th in the Premier League on 25 points. If they are unable to finish any higher, they will be relegated to the Championship after just one season in England’s top flight.

They will believe, however, that they have enough to avoid the plunge, with big name players like Djibril Cisse, Bobby Zamora and Shaun Wright-Phillips in their side. Bolton are the team above them on 26 points, while Blackburn are within touching distance on 28.

It means they will stand a very good chance of getting out of the bottom three with a win over Arsene Wenger’s men – but that in itself seems a daunting prospect.

The two sides have met in the league on 41 occasions in the past, with Arsenal historically having the upper hand. The Gunners have won 18 times, with Rangers winning 11. In total, there have been 12 draws.

The last meeting between the two was back in December, with Arsenal running out 1-0 winners at the Emirates. QPR will be hoping for a reverse of that scoreline.
