QPR boss Hughes planning £6m bid for Celtic star Ki Sung-Yeung

Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung is being chased by Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes and is planning a £6 million according to the Mirror.

Rangers owner Tony Fernandes is reportedly hoping to crack the Far East commercial market and wants Hughes to sign the South Korean star to boost the clubs appeal.

Having already acquired  Park Ji-Sung from Manchester United earlier this month Fernandes wants him to team up with international teammate Ki at Loftus Road.

The west London club are said to have already approached Celtic with an offer for the classy 23-year-old but will only sell when their asking price is met.

With a Champions League campaign on the horizon the Glasgow giants are hoping to get the best deal possible which will allow manager Neil Lennon to considerably boost his squad.

The R’s are keen to complete a deal for Ki before the new Premier League campaign kicks off and hope to tempt him into make the switch with the offer of a lucrative contract.

Should Hughes manager to acquire the former Seoul star it would place serious doubt over the future of Joey Barton as he begins a 12-game ban following his sending off against Manchester City on the final day of last season.

It was reported that Sheffield Wednesday will rival Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest for the 29-year-old who was stripped of the captaincy, ined six weeks’ wages, removed from the pre-season tour of Asia.

He was also made available on loan at a reduced rate but Hughes still believes the ex-Newcastle United midfielder could be a vital asset once his ban ends and sees a temporary move to the Championship as the ideal solution.

With the greater volume of games in England’s second tier Barton’s ban would run down quicker and allow him to resume his career with Rangers.
