New QPR boss Mark Hughes has reportedly made an official approach for Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has he starts his mission to save the club from relegation.
Hughes officially took over at Loftus Road on Tuesday and immediately drew up a list of potential transfer targets that he believes will help keep Rangers in the Premier League. One of those is Onuoha who has featured sparsely for the City this season after returning from a successful loan spell at Sunderland.
The Nigerian impressed at the Stadium of Light in the previous campaign and isn’t short of suitors with the Black Cats, Blackburn, Newcastle United and West Brom all supposedly keeping tabs on his situation. However it seems as if Hughes has stolen a march on them all by submitting an official approach for the 25-year-old whom he managed during his time as City boss.
Onuoha’s versatility would certainly be a big plus point for the R’s who have struggled at the back during there return to the flight season following a 15-year absence. It’s unlikely the West London side would have to shell out a substantial fee for the defender with Roberto Mancini keen to trim his playing squad at the Etihad Stadium.
It’s unknown as of yet whether the approach has been accepted by the league leaders although they are unlikely to stand in Onuoha’s way if a fee of £4 million is offered for his services.
