QPR fail in move for Brazilian playmaker

The deal may have seemed all but sewn up but Henrique’s loan transfer to QPR has fallen through after the playmaker failed to secure a work permit.

The Brazilian star was being linked with a move to numerous Premier League sides over recent months including Chelsea and Manchester United.

However, it emerged that QPR took over pole position to land his signature last week and that the West London outfit would sign ‘Casemiro’ on a loan deal with a permanent transfer to take place in the summer.

The deal would eventually cost the Hoops a fee of £5m and is reported to have depended on whether or not the Premier League outfit attained Premier League survival or not.

Casemiro is a feature in the Brazil Under-20 setup and has made 15 appearances for the side over the past year.

Mark Hughes’ side continue to be linked with a number of big money signatures following the investment of Tony Fernandes.

The Malaysian businessman is keen to turn Rangers into a superpower in the English top flight and has pledged a reported £25m to the team’s January transfer kitty.

A QPR spokesman stated that there were ‘numerous reasons’ why the deal fell through, two of which being the 19 year-old’s inexperience on both a club and international level.

Hughes will now have to shift his attention to alternative targets and could look to Stephen Ireland and Niko Kranjcar, both of whom were being mentioned with moves to Loftus Road.
