Despite undergoing a medical at Queens Park Rangers, Joey Barton has admitted he has not yet made up his mind where he will be playing this season. The midfielder has been made up for grabs since Newcastle confirmed he is available on a free transfer. With just one year left on his contract, it is highly expected that Barton will move, however he has maintained hope of staying at St James’ Park and is not sure on leaving.
Although Barton has started in both of Newcastle’s opening games, Alan Pardew is fed up with his outspoken remarks about the club on social networking sites. With Barton available, Rangers’ boss Neil Warnock has made a move for the 28-year-old.
QPR claim the deal is close, however the one-cap England international has insisted that talks are still underway and no agreement has been put in place as yet.
“The latest is that we are completing the final stages of the medical, so we can get that over and done with and see where we are at,” Barton said.
“I’ve not made a final decision yet but, having spoken to the club, it’s a club with ambition and I had to come down and hear what they had to say and go through the formalities of the medical side of it just in case something does happen.”
