QPR to boost hopes with double Premiership signings Routledge and Joe Cole

Premiership newcomers QPR are reported to be interested in both Newcastle United’s Wayne Routledge and Liverpool’s Joe Cole as they look to remain a Premiership side after their first season in the top flight.

It appears the West London side wish to add some attacking presence to the side by making enquiries regarding the availability of Joe Cole and 26 year old winger Routledge. Newcastle United still believe they can keep Routledge on permanently, however after the player spent last season at QPR on loan, he is now understood to be keen on a move back to the capital after no other teams have really expressed a huge interest.

Routledge initially turned down a three year contract to join QPR but is said to be considering his options carefully at the moment.

For Cole it may be a chance to gain more first team football. His chances at Liverpool were few and far between although a vast majority that time was spent on the treatment table. Another issue for QPR is Joe Cole’s wages which the current board will not authorise for a player nearing 30 and now so susceptible to injury.

Should Joe Cole take a drop in wages and Wayne Routledge discover that QPR could be his best option this summer, then the Championship winners will have two very attack minded talents on their books.
