Question marks over Lampard future as Chelsea close in on Pastore

Question marks are looming over the future of Frank Lampard after it emerged that Chelsea FC are closing in on a deal with Palermo for Argentina’s attacking midfielder Javier Pastore.

The 22 year old has been earmarked as a possible successor of Frank Lampard and sources claim that Chelsea are not giving up on the former Huracán midfielder. Chelsea are also still very keen on Luka Modric and should Tottenham Hotspur finally agree to allow the Croatian to switch from North to West London then Lampard, at 33 years of age, may find it difficult in gaining as much as first team action than he is used to.

Despite being injured through very much of the 2010/2011 campaign, Lampard did make a difference when he returned to full fitness although it is obviously a major concern for the Stamford Bridge club as to how much longer he can play at the highest level.

With Chelsea close to dealing with Palermo for Pastore and the Modric situation likely to come to a conclusion by the end of the month, Lampard’s Chelsea future could be in jeopardy with some even suggesting he be used as a make weight in the Modric deal where it would link Redknapp and Lampard back together after their time at West Ham United.
