With just under three weeks until the Cheltenham Festival none of the big players for honours there are likely to be running this weekend, but there is still a cracking card for punters to get their teeth into, with ample betting opportunities provided by online firms like William Hill, Bet365, BetVictor and Ladbrokes.

The main race punters are turning their attention too on the bumper televised card is the Racing Plus Handicap at 3:50, where the highly regarded Wyck Hill heads the betting at 11/4 with William Hill.

Regarded as potentially the best handicapped horse in training, Wyck Hill has been on many punters notebooks and trainer David Bridgewater has decided to throw him in at this high level before a stint at one of the big chases at the Cheltenham Festival.

The basis of his well handicapped nature comes from his strong-running performance at Ascot last time out, where he beat subsequent Cheltenham winner Katenko by four lengths in bottomless ground.

Katenko is likely to run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup next such is his potential, therefore it’s easy to see why many people are equally as excited by Wyck Hill – JP McManus included, who purchased horse off the previous connections last week ahead of his run at Kempton.

It’s easy to find holes in his make-up in terms of this race at Kempton however, as in our eyes he seems to lack speed and is all about stamina. At Kempton you need to jump quickly otherwise it’s easy to get too far back very easily. This race has plenty of frontrunners, and at 11/4 Wyck Hill could be vulnerable.

His main rival looks to be Rolling Aces from the Paul Nicholls yard, who can be backed at 7/2 with BetVictor.

He jumped exceptionally well at Wincanton last time and stayed on strongly to supplement his previous Newbury success, which came in a handicap.

He´ll be helped by better ground at Kempton and looks very much capable of winning a big handicap like this. The form of that Wincanton has been boosted by the second, Opening Batsmen, who went onto win his next assignment. Rolling Aces under Walsh could be where the money is going.

Nacarat, a two-time winner of this race, has dropped to within 1lbs of last year’s success and relishes Kempton, however, he really has looked out of sorts this season and you will need to take a huge leap of faith to trust him at 9/1 with Paddy Power.

The Racing UK Subscribe For Cheltenham Adonis Juvenile Hurdle, off at 2:05, is usually a good pointer for the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and L’Unique could do his chances of a Festival win no harm with a win at Kempton.

Trainer Alan King specialises in these types of young, progressive hurdles and as winner of a Listed juvenile hurdle for fillies´ at Aintree and judging by her latest win at Kempton, he could have another good one on his hands.

The Grade Two Pendil Novices´ Chase throws together some decent looking novices and it looks as though Nicky Henderson holds the key with Molotof and Tour D’Argent. The former has been chosen by stable jockey Barry Geraghty, which suggests Henderson fancies a big run from the youngster.

The William Hill Dovecote Novices´ Hurdle has been won by some nice horses in the past and Brick Red for the Venetia Williams yard could be the one to be on this year.

He completed a hat-trick of wins at Musselburgh last time out and makes the step up to Graded company.
