Rangers eyeing several striking replacements

With Nikica Jelavic looking increasingly likely to complete a move to Goodison Park, Rangers are looking at a number of forwards in a bid to replenish their attacking ranks.

The Croatian international has been linked with a move away from Ibrox for the entirety of the January transfer window and after undergoing a medical with Everton, it seems the transfer will go through later today.

Although Rangers will take a rumoured £8m from the sale of their striker, not all of that sum will be available for transfers as the Scottish club’s main reason for selling was due to their current financial predicament.

However, some will be put towards finding a replacement for their star and Andy Johnson, Heidar Helgusson and Grant Holt have all been identified as targets.

Another outside bet to come in is Roman Pavlyuchenko, who could join the club on a loan deal after falling out of favour at White Hart Lane.

Harry Redknapp could be pleased to get the Russian international off of his wage bill with Louis Saha reportedly close to joining Spurs, meaning the move could work for both parties.

Rangers are understood to have already had a bid rejected for Norwich’s Holt, but will supposedly be going back in with a revised offer.

Andy Johnson was close to a deal to join Wigan Athletic after a month of speculation, but rejected a move to the DW Stadium and Heidar Helgusson may also be open to a move away from Loftus Road after QPR purchased Djibril Cissé and are edging closer to signing Bobby Zamora from Fulham.
